The Thought

If you're on this blog, that means that somewhere you've seen this image. Which makes me more than happy because that means that this simple little image at least managed to intrigue a few people.

Let me fill you in before asking anything else of you though.

I am a tenth grader at Baltimore City College High School, and we've been told to create a project that includes both something palpable, and an essay including research collected from that palpable aspect. Although, this is a project I've been wanting to carry out for a while now.

It started about half way through my freshman year when my friend Bee and I started talking about how we wished we could come up with a symbol or sign of sorts that would inspire people, or at least make them think. So during one long math class, the infinity symbol with the words "and yet" came to mind.
The concept of infinity has always been something we were both completely fascinated with, and the words "and yet" were from an interview I'd seen on Oprah with Elie Wiesel (the author of Night) that struck me and still do to this day. Although unfortunately I cannot find a clip of the interview or sound bites anywhere.

Anyways, what I'm asking you to do is complete whatever thought came to mind when you saw the image. What obstacles have you overcome despite all odds? What odd contradictions in life make it exactly that- life?

I know this is a broad question, but I truly appreciate any and all responses. I'm not asking for anything long or wordy- simply whatever comes to mind.

Please include the city that you in live in along with your response, as it's part of my research.
